Yes, we used to learn latin in school (aquila volare, delfinum natare docent).
We still have:
aquila-acvila (q-cv in latin)
delfinum-delfin
natare~natatie
It's interesting to compare latin based languages. I do talk a lot of french nowadays due to the specific of my work, and I find more and more similar words. Even spanish has many words easy to understand.
Maybe my verbs were also wrong conjugated :D in italian, but I hope we both understand the ideea.
