No, it's not true. 1 kilo is not 10^2 but is 2^10. Even if you count 8 times 1024 that's 8192 bits, not 8000. But surely, 1 kB is 8 kbit, 1 MB is 8 Mbits and 1 GB is 8 Gbits. Remember, always 1024.
