Have you done the "show extensions" procedure? If yes, which extensions have your movies?
If the extensions are .OGM you need this:

If the extensions are .MKV you need this:

In BSplayer you can leave the settings as default and everything should work fine (to be sure the settings are the default ones, delete the BSplayer.USER_NAME.xml file present in you USER PROILE FOLDER [usually "C:\Documents And Settings\USER_NAME\Application Data\BSplayer\"]) and then start BSplayer.
Try to do this, then tell me if it worked..
If you want to change your rendering settings (but first try to see if the subtitles are shown with default settings) you can go in BSplayer preferences window (CTRL+P -> Video -> Video rendering -> Rendering mode ...)
