No, nothing like that. I'm considering as my next step completely uninstalling and reinstalling all the Creative drivers, but I thought I'd check in here first to see if anyone has any more specific suggestions.
It seems since it's happening in both BSPlayer and WMP it isn't a player problem, and since it's affecting all media types it isn't a codec issue, so I'm assuming it's either in Windows XP or in the Creative drivers...and the latter is easier to reinstall than the former.
I'm guessing some recent program or game that I installed did something unfortunate....
