The point is that Western characters will work even if Unicode is not available. For people who choose to be "Westerners" during the installation of Windows. So it's kinda meaningless for an Italian to carry out this test.
On my system (WinXP SP1), Windows automatically falls back to a short DOS-like filename if unavailable characters (รง) are used. But I'm not using the latest BS.Player.
If French/ITA is your native language, you should configure Windows Control Panel - Regional Settings accordingly. Have you done it?
