 Full screen problem

I've been a longtime fan and user of BS player, but ever since I've updated the new version - 2.50 - I'm having a frustrating new problem. The full screen mode, instead of displaying the file full screen, displays it in a small box at the center. The movie mode - I don't really understand the difference between the movie mode and the full screen mode anyway - seems to work, but it does weird things to the subtitles, which then become huge and place themselves in a tight column at the center of the film. What's going on? What am I missing?
