Dscaler is a good alternative, but if you also need to record from TV, i'd recommed you take a look at:

Also supports timeshifting, and teletext.

If you capture video, i suggest you use codec 'PicVideo', probably the fastest codec in the world, IMHO. I have not had 1 dropped frame yet, while recording in 768x576x32bpp, 25fps, 48khz stereo.
