Default App data requires considerable internal storage space

After moving BsPlayer to my SD card, I've noticed that while the application itself only leaves a footprint of 828KB, its 'Data' has been consistently eating up at least 7-8MB of my phone's internal storage space (according to Android's 'Manage apps' menu) -- whereas most apps' data will only use a few hundred KB at best.

The number won't budge, even after clearing the cache, history and database. I've already set the cache to save to my SD card as well. If I clear the app data from 'Manage apps', the amount will immediately jump back to 7MB upon reopening the player, even before loading any media. As BsPlayer has been by far the best Android player I've come across, I'm hoping there's something I'm missing. Is this how it is for everyone else?
