Instead of unchecking that DivX option, try changing the FourCC of the files themselves using AviC, a little utility included in the XviD codec installer. In that you can change which codec the movie file tells the player it's using.
For instance, on most files coded with XviD I tend to switch the FourCC to DivX, if only because for some reason I can't alter the brightness settings for the XviD codec in BSPlayer, either in the codec properties or in preferences. (but that is a small issue)
