http stream on Android buffers, fails Cyanogenmod 9.0 (Android 4.0.4) Samsung Galaxy Note Telus (SGH-i717) media: mkv video: H264 - mpeg-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1) 1280x720 25 fps audio: A52 (aka AC3) (a52 ) channels: 2 48000 Hz (Codec doesn't seem to make a difference, as I've tried this with many different files) 1. Connect PC and phone to same network. Can any mix of wifi, wired, tethering, etc. 2. Start an http stream from vlc 2.0.3 in Windows 7 or Ubuntu 12.04, for example http://192.168.42.165:8080/a.mkv 3. In BS Player, "Open URL..." , "http:/192.168.42.165:8080/a.mkv". Now you see the spinning wheel and "opening..." for several seconds. The system monitor on the PC shows ~5 Mbps of traffic leaving the network interface. tcpdump also shows a stream of packets from port 8080 on the PC to the Android device. At some point BS player goes back to the Browse screen and displays the message "Error opening file http://192.168.42.165:8080/a.mkv". It is as if it is buffering the stream and at some point just fails without displaying anything. Following these exact steps with another player such as MX Player works as expected, but BS Player appears to be the only Android player with DTS support, so I'd really like to nail down this problem if possible. |
