Default Launching bsplayer by double- clicking on file problem

Whenever I double click on a video file, bsplayer player launches and displayes the following error message:

Cannot find the file '<whatever?>' (or on of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available.

However, the file plays fine!

can anyone explain what's going on here?

cheers

It's a bit difficult to solve remotely...

- What is the filename? The movie? A filter? An other dll? The reasons of the failure won't be the same.

- Try to run once BSPlayer from its installation directory, and be sure that in the General tab of the Preferences [Ctrl+P], the option "Register extensions on player start" is checked. If "remember last movie played" is enabled, a movie should be launched.
-> do you get the same msg?

- Close the movie, if any, and use [L] command to load an other movie
-> do you get the same msg?

- Be sure that filedate of bsrendv.dll and BPlay.exe are about the same.
Run unreg.bat, it can't hurt.
- If nothing works run ClearReg.exe (you'll lose your BSPlayer settings), then backup your registry first.

thanks for the reply

it occurs on *any* video file I double click on

loading files from within bsplayer is fine (or on startup when set to "last remember file"), it's just when I double-click on a file to launch it. Even then it plays fine.

I'm using ffdshow instead of the divx codecs - might that be a problem?

I don't use FFdshow, but lots of people do, it shouldn't be the problem.
I can't help if you don't answer to my questions.

Default it's not a bsplayer problem

what you describe is a windows error and not a BSplayer bug.
Damn! i had this problem with bmp files once and i don't even remember how i solved it :))
.... i think it's because two (or more) programs try to register a file type (in your case avi's).... too bad i can remember the solution.. try to check out the file types in the folder options of W explorer or your windows registry
