I have a similar problem. One day I tried to play an mpg/m2v file and the "unknown format()" msg came up. I can skip it and bsplayer plays the file, but it plays the video in a weird window called "ActiveMovie Window" by the taskbar. I can not right-click the video area to get bsplayer options and the video stays in a windows box (has the minimize, maximize, close buttons at top).
I can play these formats in PowerDVD correctly, but I like bsplayer to play them.

WinXPsp2, bsplayer 1.22 (not pro), tried uninstalling/reinstalling m2v codec & bsplayer, also I do not know that I changed anything or installed any new codecs (only installed the new bsplayer).

Thanks for any help.

Maybe installing an alternate MPEG2 decoder will help. Try elecard or BitCtrl.
