Default BSP needs more system resources? is it a bug?

i just noticed that the latest version takes a while to load.. and the system seems to crowl while it's loading. Is it because it needs more resources or is it some bug?(memory leack etc.)
i'm using it on a 600mhz PIII 768mb ram voodoo3500tv with directX 8.1 (yeah i know i have to upgrade but it worked fine till this new version came up :)

I have the same problem.
Bsplayer takes 30 secondes to load and during this period my CPU runs at 100 %

Maybe a problem with Windows 98 ???

well i forgot to mention that i am using windows ME .. so it's not only the win98 that have the problem..
this is a wild guess but i'll ask anyway.
is there any chanse that it could be because i use an old directx version? i've read in the forum posts that bsp had some problems with the directx9 in the past so i didn't upgrade it.. does it still has problems with it? i have disabled system restore and i don't have the time to make a ghost backup of my disk,so i don't want to risk an upgrade of the directx since it can't be removed afterwards..

I am using DirectX 9.0a. No problem on Win XP. All works fine (Celeron 1.46, 256MB RAM, TNT2M64/32MB).
