I downloaded BSplayer on my computer but everytime I try to open it, it says "Error while locating a DLL function" and wont open. Ive downloaded the player again, but it keeps coming up everytime. My computer is running on Windows 98. Can anyone help me?

Which version have you downloaded and installed?
You need to install the 499 version,
and after that overwrite it with the 500 version (exe only).
Does it also tell you which dll is missing?

I have the lastest version (499) downloaded, and all it says when it pops up is "Error while locating a DLL function," and refuses to open. I also downloaded the nightly build but it hasnt affected it at all.

I do use Windows ME, which is much like windows 98.
Did you try to remove BSPlayer and re-install it?
Doesn't it say what the name of the dll file is?
In my BSPlayer directory is only one DLL file BSRENDV.DLL
Do you have that one too?

I've uninstalled, and reinstalled bsplayer several times, but it doesnt help. It doesnt say what dll file it is, but I do know that i have the bsrendv.dll file, and I've even deleted it and replaced it with a new one with no results.

I am out of options.
Is it possible to play a divx movie using windows media player?
If not, try (re)installing some codec (packs).
The final thing you could do,
is a clean install of windows 98 which should do the trick,
but I am not sure if you want that. :?

Default I FIGURED IT OUT...

The DLL that is missing is linked to the fact that your machine does not have the ActiveX "9" upgrades. Goto windows update, and let it scan for updates on oyur machhine....then you'll see in the list of patch/updates a file called activeX 9, etc (something to that effect)....once done, BSPlayer should run....when I did this, no bs player runs..with no DLL error....

I am running win 98 SE on the machine with the peoblem,

I am figuring it worked fine on another machine I have with XP because XP includes the activex 9 updates.....

let me know if that worked for everyone :D

Default error

instead of saying activeX, i meant to say directX 9

you get the idea...

as for the user (PAT) who made reference to having activeX 9 and it still not working under his post, I duon't know....

i know that i tried everything here , then when i upgraded activeX it worked beautiful....

I do not think the version of directx has to be version 9.
I use windows ME, which is pretty much the same as windows 98.
And I did not upgrade directx at all, it is DirectX 7.1
You can find your version by running c:\windows\system\dxdiag.exe
But BSPlayer is working great on my PC.
The only thing I cannot do, is enable "Use VMR9"
But where do you need that option for anyway?
My version of BSPlayer is 500 nigthly build. 8)
But, Saki, you might want to try directx 9,
it worked for Soundbyte, maybe for you too.
