Default movie never opens

I am using bs player 86 build 499, when I try to open a movie it just freezes. It says opening but never opens divx .avi file. I have to use end task to quit.

Perhaps you should first upgrade to the latest version/build, which is 86 build 501.
(Install 500 http://www.bsplayer.org/dlfile.php?s...lay086.500.exe
and subsequently place the two substituting files and 1 additional file of build 501 http://www.bsplayer.org/dlfile.php?fname=bsplay.zip in its installation directory).
If you then still have this problem it will probably be related to the codecs used.

When posting always mention your computer's OS and the version and build number(!) of BS.Player as used by you,
as well as - if applicable and especially when encountering problems - the type(s) of the file(s) mentioned in your post.

Pse check which version of DivX you have.
(Movie could be encoded by a more recent version than the codecs as installed on your PC)
E.g. thru "Start"/"Search" for the file "divxdec.ax".
When found right-click on it and look at "Properties"
There should be the necessary information on a tab "Version".
