Default player plays only mpeg.

I have installed the latest codecpack from kazaa-lite with bSplayer, but it only plays mpeg, no avi or xvid.
Then I have installed the latest BSplayer of this site (BSPlayer version 0.86 (C) 2000-2003 BST), but still have the same error if I want to play a avi.

The payer plays no avi and also I have no sound, it gives immidiately a error:
Access violation at address 00000000. Read of address 00000000

Who can help me.
Thanks.

Have you also installed "GSpot" which is also in the K-lite codec pack? If so, first check with GSpot which codec the video requires and if you've got it installed. (Don't forget to try direct show render too.)

When posting always mention your computer's OS and the version and build number(!) of BS.Player as used by you,
as well as - if applicable and especially when encountering problems - the type(s) of the file(s) mentioned in your post.

GSpot is installed and says for video and audio : 2 compatible codecs installed.
When I render it says succesfull, and when I then play the file with MediaPlayer it works, but when I play the file with BSplayer, I keep getting this error. :?:

And when I open the program CodecSniper, it says 132 codecs are ok, and zero are not ok??

Did you perhaps download Full version of Kazaa Lite and also install "Morgan Multimedia Stream Switcher" (which is included in this Full version)?
If so, that might be causing the error and you should uninstall it:
Start / Run (Uitvoeren) / then type: regsvr32.exe -u mmswitch.ax [Enter] (or [OK])

Two things:
(1)
Upgrade to build 501 ("nightly build") from BSPlayer's creator site (See Help to Help hereunder)
(2)
If you also installed "Morgan Multimedia Stream Switcher":
uninstall it as also indicated hereabove:
Start -> Run
then type: regsvr32.exe -u mmswitch.ax [Enter] (or [OK])
