Taskbar disappers in Desktop Mode

Greetings all. Running a PIII Win2k system. I ussually have about 10 windows open. Needless to say the "Show Desktop" shortcut is used frequently. Here in lies the problem. When using the shortcut while viewing a vid in desktop mode my taskbar will disappear. I can open another window (ex. My Computer) and the taskbar reappears.
