Unknown file format (RV40) I just discovered this forum and I search some help in resolving a problem (don't think it's a bug) on bsplayer : I'm trying to read .mkv files on bsplayer, but the following message keep on appearing : "Unknown file format (RV40)" I've put the codecs used on Windows media player (on which .mkv files are working but not well) in the file "plugins", but BS doesn't detect 'em. What's up doc. :( Io. |

It is Real Player format. Maybe this link will help you. I am not sure cause I haven't tested it yet. http://ftp3.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/ |

The problem (I think) is that I don't know how to install the codecs I already have (before I put them in the plugins file of win media player, WMP keep on displaying the same message). Is there another way to install the codecs than simply put em in plugins file ? |

Thank you for your answers
Hi, I've tried the two of your profositions : - I haven't .inf file in my directory, so I can't work it that way ; - The only .ax file I can remember is the MatroskaSplitter.ax file, and the start-and-run method you've told me neither work (file regsvr.ax does not exist (?)) ; I've found the codecs (.dll) I use at the same adress adicoto gave me, I've dowloaded the rp9win32codecs, and put them in the WMP general file. So i'm able to watch th film (.mkv) but the image keep on stoping every 3 seconds (and so it's vry boring to watch !!!). I've decided to use bsplayer as this kind of problem is often solved with your program. Here is the list of codecs which are in the plugins file of bs player (and the same in WMP file) : atrc3260.dll cook3260.dll drv13260.dll drv23260.dll drv33260.dll drv43260.dll erv23260.dll erv33260.dll erv43260.dll pncrt.dll rnco3260 rv203260.dll rv303260.dll rv403260.dll sipr3260.dll tokr3260.dll VSFilter.dll and that's all. Anyway thank u for your help, I will try again and tell you if itr works. Io. |

rv40 = realvideo9 to play it back you need two things: 1) install realone player (i dont know if it works with codec packs) 2) install the realmedia splitter from gabest: http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/ |

Problem solved. Real Player codecs: http://ftp3.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/rel...codecs.tar.bz2 http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/g...4.zip?download First file is an archive. dlls from inside must be copyed in windows\system32 folder. Second file is an archive. ax file from inside must be registered. Tested and working ok. |

Return
Hi, I've been away for a while and I didn't have time to deal with my MKV files problems. So I'm back and I've tried to read a .mkv film on bsplayer after copying the codecs you've given me. And it works !!! But, there's still a problem of synchronisation between image and sound and it's probably due to the fact that I don't know how to register the .ax files. Any answer for this or there is a problem with my file ? with my computer (processor not strong enough 1Ghz) ? both ? After that I'll stop bothering you with my problems. Thanks in advance, Io. |

when you have sync issues because of choppy video playback, thats because of a weak cpu -> you need a player that allows using "overlay mixer" i think that bsplayer 1.0 already incorporates this feature (tough i didnt test it till now)
