Default MPEG2 video program error

First, it's probably the way BS Player or Ligos handles MPEG2 video, but it doesn't play in a normal window like other movies, but they play in an "ActiveMovie Window" and except for the fact that video is playing, it seems to ignore that a video stream is present.

If I enter the right click menu, then options and video info, it pops up with the following error:

BSPlayer v1.00.803, Unhandled exception at EIP: 004DF710
If you click 'Close' application will be terminated.
Please report this info to the author with description what were you doing.
Access violation at address 004DF710 in module 'bsplay.exe'. Read of address 00000000

Clicking continue returns the following:

Bytes at EIP: 8B 00 FF 10 A1 4C BD 4E 00 83 38 05 75 45 8D 45 F8 E8

Clicking continue again closes the popup and everything is apparantly normal again.

I'm using the latest version of BS Player on XP SP1 and I'm using the Ligos MPEG decoder from the K-lite codec pack.

Do you happen to know what DirectX version you're running?
(You can check through [Start] > Run ....
then type in: dxdiag
followed by: [Enter])
