new error? Direct Draw Surface

hi... I have the latest verion of BSplayer and enjoy it a lot... recently when opening mpg files , even ones it has played before I get a "warning- cannot create direct draw surface" error message... I uninstalled and reinstalled and the problem went away for a day then it started happening again.... any suggestions?
