Default 809 freezes randomly during video playback

BSPlayer version 1.00 Build 809 freezes randomly during video playback. I'll open a video file (usually avi) and randomly during playback BSPlayer will freeze and I'll have to ctrl+alt+del out of it.

My PC's specs: WinME, Pent 2 .333, 128 Meg RAM, STB Velocity 128.

I just upgraded to 1.00 via the exe (uninstalled previous version first) and the same thing happens. BSPlayer will freeze during playback of a large video file, which in turn freezes my computer. The audio continues to play. I have to End Task it to exit, then my computer unfreezes.

I recently discovered that this freezing only happens with avi files.

avi files still covers a large possible area. Its the codec used for that avi which is of interest. (See 2nd item of my Help-to-Help post; link at bottom).

That being said however:
  1. if your PC has a PentiumII 333MHz, I would advise you to try BSPlayer version 0.86 in combination with FFD show.

  2. if your CPU however is a Pentium running at 2,333MHz (your information is a bit confusing), forget about version 0.86 and ffdshow and concentrate on the codec-question

I have a .333 processor.

From what I've seen, it doesn't matter what audio/video codec is used. I've had it happen with any AVI file over 20 megs.

I'll take your advice and use 0.86.
