i cannot play wmv files anymore

i used to be able to play wmv files with bs player and now i can't. any ideas? i hate WMP so please help me out.

oh i forgot to mention that the error is

Can't Open File.

i can play in WMP though so its not a codec problem.

I have the same problem and I think it has something to do with installing SP1 for windows XP. Because I used te be able to play wmv files fine in Winamp and BSPlayer but after installing the SP they will only play in wmplayer. Maybe microsoft has somehow blocked other players from playing wmv files.
