Default Win98, v. 1 - Files won't play, even with proper codecs

Okay, this is a strange little bug. Since I want BSPlayer to be my main media player, I downloaded the codecs for QuickTime and Realplayer (in the form of QT/RP alternatives, as suggested in an earlier thread). BSplayer, though, is completely unable to play QuickTime or Realplayer files, though it can play streaming QuickTime (but not Realplayer) videos. What's going on here?

Btw, I didn't install the copies of Media Player Classic that came with the QT/RP alternatives.
