Default Reason for crashing on Vista: rendering mode

When playing AVIs, I've often seen BSP Pro 2.28 and recent prior versions crashing (GPF'g) when I use the mouse to quickly jump to different places in the video or particularly when scanning back and forth with the arrow keys.

I had been using VMR9, since it's one of the ones that works with Aero, but I tried switching it to VMR9 Renderless, and the problem seems to have gone away.

Bug? And does this make any sense given what "renderless" might mean in this context? Beyond this problem, I'm not actually sure which is better to use.

Default Re: Reason for crashing on Vista: rendering mode

The ability to do seeking appears dependent on the video driver. On one system seeking works, while on another the player crashes immediately. i wish somebody could bring up the reason for it at last. Presence of subtitles might also make the program less stable.
