BSplayer freezes on close

I'm using version 2.31 build 974 of Bsplayer and recently i've been getting a problem. Whenever a video file runs for a while, atleast some 5-20+ mins, when i try to close it, Bsplayer freezes. As in CTRL-ALT-DEL-need-to-close freeze. If i run some movies that are a few minutes, it exits as normally. Also, rarely, on some video files it freezes at start, and i need to start Bsplayer alternatively and then load the file from there. It's been recently getting on my nerves, thus the post.

If the first suggestion is to update, i will, but only if i can be assured that i will be able to install a "core" version, without it using the codecs that come with it. I've spent literally hours on end after the mess the last install made.

Simply reply correctly what you want (or don't want) upon installation. This is valid for BS.Player's control bar and also with respect to codecs/filters. BS.Player doesn't force you to install BS.Player-internal*) codecs/filters. It is up to the user to decide on what BS.Player's codec manager should do.
*): Note that from BS.Player 2.32 a codec manager was introduced which will run codec diagnostics at installation (only once) and will prompt user if any of vital multimedia codecs are not installed on the system. User has the option to download and install missing codecs or not. All codecs installed by BS.Players Codec manager are installed locally (meaning only BS.Player will use these codecs) and they will not interfere or mess with functionality of any of your other codecs installed globally.

I have the same problem, i tried a lots of versions of BS, but this bug is still there. Knows someone a fix or something else? I use win7 pro.

i had a quite similar problem about having BS.Player freeze when i press the 'x' icon to close it.

i will experience such problem only if i use 'internal renderer DirectDraw surface'. if i just want to take a peek at the video about, less than 5 minutes, it wont happen, but if i watch the whole video, it'll happen by the time i close it.

It is possible that, the problem is the BS player 1 skin?

you could try turning off the skins from Preference>Skins and uncheck all the box regarding skins option in there and see if its still happen. for me, it only happen if i use internal renderer DirectDraw. if i use EVR or internal renderer overlay, it wont happen to me anymore. i believe this is also a bug in BSPlayer.

I recall that this was caused by an XviD build. Can't remember which. Can someone confirm that XviD it's used as video decoder ?
