If you pressed the Add button in "TV tuner configuration" window, you were able to set the channel number from the right pane, and by pressing the Update button not only the name was updated, but also the channel number..
I don't know why (if befere it was enabled) this feature has been removed :?

I'm not totally sure of this, but has I said, I'm pretty sure that these steps allowed a user to add a channel manually..

Please, add (re-add) this feature to BSplayer :)
