windows nt - bsplayer and direct x

I have windows nt 4.0, and the only version of direct x for this SO is directx 3.0.
Is it also impossible for me to install bsplayer? (I tried with Version 0.86, but it asked me directx 7)

there are some old version who don't need directx
I don't have them anymore.

maybe somebody else.

So does anybody know which versions do not need directx? Where to get?
