Default File barely to big for CD

After downloading a movie file I find it is just a LITTLE to large to put on a 700 MB 80 min tape. I mean like about 4-5 kb. I wouldn't mind missing just a little of the beginning or just a little of the end where the titles are if there is a simple way to do so. OR is there a program out there that would easily split the file to put on two CD's? Wouldn't mind doing the latter. I use the words easily and simple because of my somewhat lacking computer knowledge. Thanks

Normalised 80Mn CD-Rom holds 360000 sectors of 2048 bytes
ie: 737 280 000 bytes = 703.125MB

All 80mn CD should handle 703MB but some can stand a bit more. It depends on the real capacity of the media itself, and the ability of your CD writer and burning software to support overburning.

It would really be a shame to split the remaining kB on a second CD.

Default Just take Easy Video Splitter

The program "Easy Video Splitter" is an easy program to do the job!
The best way to get it, is from kazaa because there are cracks included.... (because it's a shareware vesion )

VirtualDub is also a good software to split your movies...

And Nandub handles mutliple audio movie.

and they are free !

Use in edit menu : set selection start and set selection end according to the begin and end frame of your xx th part.
Then, in the video menu, set Direct Stream Copy
Then File -> Save as avi and it's done

When setting you beginning or ending frame make sure it's a keyframe using button with the yellow key, it positions you to a the nearest previous/next keyframe

We may be a bit late for poppamac but while we're at it... ;)

there are software that will recompress only the end credits (or whatever part you tell them to do) so that they take less space... while you don't kill the quality of the whole movie. It is said you can gain some 15 to 40 MB
these software are supposed to do that easily (I didn't test them)

I know two of them in french (at least the web pages are exclusively in french)
curvavi: http://www.cheznoo.net/radioatlantique/perso/index.htm
reducteur: http://reducteur.free.fr/

I'd bet there are some equivalent software in english...

the easiest and most simple way to fix your problem is to "overburn " the cd.
get NERO burning rom (ahead software) and configure it so that it burns in "overburn" mode (file-preferences-expert features-"enable overburn disc at once mode"). if your movie is less than 703 mb you'll have no problem at all.. sometimes it can burn up to 709 mb.. otherwise you can also use a 800mb cd :)
and btw, search the forums before posting, this issue has been posted and replied before

you can download neodivx 9.3 beta ( neodivx.org)
it has a cd burner which can overwrite up to 790Mb on a 700Mb. I didn't try it but it should work.

neodivx is a really good soft for divx !!

It does not use overburning for that; it uses a derivative from mode2cdMaker.

that can make CD managing painful as the files don't stay in their native format.
I believe though that BSPlayer can play such CDs with no trouble (provided you have installed the cdXa filters or something like that)

However I don't quite like that process :|

[in fact I didn't try the standalone CD burner either but I guess it can make "transparent" use of this process]
