Default .AVI default handler

How can I make BSPlayer my default .AVI file player? I am running Windows XP Professional. I have searched the forum, but I haven't found any help on this issue. Surely someone else out there likes BSPlayer enough to use it as default? Thanks for the help!

I think you must
either change a Windows setting:
....Open any map with Explorer
....Select: Tools (or Extra)/ Options / Filetypes
....Select "AVI" and change the present setting.
or in BSPlayer's "Options"/"Preferences"/"General" (=most left tab)
....in the right hand "column" choose the extentions to be "associated" with BSPlayer
....and then press "Register ..."

Options, preferencies, general, check the file extensions on the right window and pres register now.
I have checked avi, mpg, mpeg, asf, dat, wmv and divx.
All works ok.

hmm...not yet....
I'm trying to make bsplayer the default player for both avi and mpeg/mpg without changing the icon to "BS".
When both avi and mpeg/mpg is assosiated with bsplayer and they all have the BS icon I try to change the icon on the avi files to the well known grey video camera. But then the mpeg icon also changes to the grey video camera. And when changing the mpeg's to the blue and green like video camera the avi files also get the blue green like video camera.
So...I simply want the old icons on both avi and mpeg files (avi=grey, mpeg/mpg=blue-green) and assosiate bsplayer with both file types...

how please!

Open an Explorer instance. Go to tools, folder options, file types, search for avi and mpg files. Then click to advanced, change icon. Browse for the icon you want to use. For old ones you can find them in quartz.dll

The problem is that when bsplayer is the default player for both avi and mpeg files they get the same icon.
When I change the icon on avi's to the grey video camera the mpeg files also change to the grey video camera.
And when changing mpeg/mpg to the blue-green video camera, the avi files also changes icon to the blue-green video camera...
