Default Way to up the brightness with no overlay?

My Movies are too dark, of course rasing brightness does nothing

DivX decoder can modify brightness by itself. Go to options, filters, divx, quality settings and move the slider for brightness. Here you can also enable suport generic MPEG4 (to decode XviD movies)

Be sure you have unselect the "Yuv extended mode" then.
