Default Overlay Failed

When I first installed this player I was very impressed but now I get an error whenever I try to play a movie. says Overlay Failed, and bplay.exe has generated errors. Is it a bad install or ....

darn that freaking sign up screen didnt log my username in .. well anyway I thought I would keep everyone up to date as to what's going on with this... the overlay error is fixed by changed the mode to mode 2 but that still doesnt fix the problems. I get the error :

BSPlayer v0.85.488, Unhandled exception at EIP: 1C402609
Application will be terminated.
Please report this info to the author with description what were you doing.

.... then I get a screen that says....

.... anyone have any idea
