Default mkv subtitles and vobsob

is there a way to let DirectVobSub handle the subtitles in an mkv file instead of bsplayer?
I ask this because bsplayer's subtitle playback seems yet to be perfected and sometimes displays subtitles too short or too long or randomly out of sync. it's often not very noticable, but on ogm files and avi files with subtitles you can compare to DirectVobSub subtitle playback and it's much better and more accurate. I know the subtitles work great in DirectVobSub cause in windows media player it uses DirectVobSub for subtitles and everything works great (but hey, we all know wmp is shit compared to bsplayer)
i have this problem with ogm with the current version too but i just installed good ol v.86501 and that still makes DirectVobSub do the subtitles for ogm. but mkv doesn't play in that version.
oh and I'm using 1.0 build 810
