To play wvm you need to install WindowsMediaCodecs9 (I installed Windows MediaPlayer 9 and now I can play wmv files).. For rm and rmvb RealAlternative included in KL codecpack should be enough, I can play them, but I think that there are some exceptions. If you search the forum you'll be able to find them. Unfortunally (or fortunally) I don't have bad files that can't be played by BSplayer, so I don't know how to help you furter..

You often don't have the possibility to find different sources... Many streaming files are asx files, and many homemade videos are encoded with WMV, so it's a need for many people, not a choice

I had had pretty same problem and the instalation of this solved the problem: Download Media Feature Pack for Windows 7 N with Service Pack 1 and Windows 7 KN with Service Pack 1 (KB968211) from Official Microsoft Download Center |

Windows 10, BSP 2.62: MOST .WMV files give "Preparing to Install"
The files play just fine on .VLC and other media players. I have installed Windows Media Video 9 Decoder and K-Lite Mega. It is odd that my BSP Pro v 2.62 can play SOME .WMV files, but only a small percentage. If anyone has a solution to this, I would be most pleased. All of the solutions on this thread are woefully outdated and pertain to Windows 7. |
