You cannot say BSPlayer is better or worse than VLC. They are different software products.
BSPlayer is mostly a front-end to DirectShow and doesn't do much by itself. If DirectShow breaks, it is handy to have VideoLAN client on your harddisk coz it has its own codecs. VLC is one of very few existing video player alternatives.
And if you say you don't like WMP then you must either disaprove the new media player GUI or or the GUI together with DirectShow. WMP again is a set of system components (some of us have more of them, some less), not a program.
