Default Very low volume!

Not sure if this has to do with BSPlayer or the codecs I have installed but when I try playing some (not all) divx movies, the volume is just extremely low and I have to crank up both the master volume on the computer and the knob on the speakers to hear. It's extremely annoying, especially because for example conversations in the movie are so low in volume you can hardly hear it but explosions and other loud noises make the whole house shake. I am not sure but I think movies encoded with AAC audio usually play on very low volume for me.

Anyone know what's up and how to fix this? I use the latest version of BSPlayer and I use the K-Lite Mega Codec pack for my codecs.. (I chose DEFAULT codecs on installation).

You can use BSplayer's equalizer (Atl+G), or a Winamp DSP plugin (I suggest you enhancer).
Probably the low audio is related to the codec used to encode the movie. For example, AC3 audio usually is low, but you can raise the valume level in AC3 Filter preferences, so you can use the same volume level in BSplayer for all your movies and at the same time to hear the conversations on your AC3 encoded films. I don't know if AAC have such a problem and a similar solution, but maybe you'd better take a look at AAC filter preferences (I think you'll find them in START -> All Programs -> K-Lite codec pack -> Configuration)

If you use AC3Filter, you can in many cases boost the Voice channel alone by a few dB.

+20 dB will introduce clipping in most audio files.

Yes, don't boost audio so much!
+7 or +10 is much enough. Plus as J7N said you can boost even only Voice channel, so you'll be avle to hear voices more clearly above ambince sounds
