upgrade/member Bs player

I'm in the same situation; two months ago, I have buy Bsplayer 1.41, and now, when I want to access to private website for members, it answer me it dont recognize me. And I dont know if I have right to upgrade for new version, 2.0

Thanks to answer me

mihhkel 8th June 2006 05:36 PM

Yup, same question here... :?

ant 8th June 2006 05:46 PM

So I'm not the only one.

Corona Extra 8th June 2006 05:46 PM

When you buy the 2.0 pro version you get a "Free one year subscription upgrade".
When I registered bsplayer pro (september 2004) there was no mention of a "subscription upgrade", upgrades were free of charge.

So, what happens to the people who registered the old version?

Tizio 8th June 2006 09:14 PM

I just wrote a PM to one of the BSplayer team members reporting your situations.
I hope they'll reply soon and clarify the whole business

..Please be patients and wait for a reply from the authors..

Where did you get that from, the website implies a one time payment of 29.99 euros. But one time for what, v2.0???? I am also one of the payed up v1.0 users and I have to say I am a bit miffed about it all. No communication at all to explain to existing users what is going on. I want to try it but since I use NOD32 antivirus I can't even try the free version.

Very dissapointed.

Tizio 9th June 2006 07:46 AM

If you want to try the new version you can disable IMON for the download time and set exclusions on the AMON to play with BSplayer

For the upgrades question, as I said I asked them for a clarification. As soon as they'll reply me I'll let you know (but probably they'll reply directly on this topic)

The Free one year subscription upgrade is stated here: http://bsplayer.org/en/bs.player/purchase/

If you do a google cache search search, you will not find that at the previous versions. Look here: http://64.233.183.104/search?q=cache...en&lr=&strip=1

Tricky2005 9th June 2006 09:19 AM

Tizio

Thanks for the advice on NOD32, but I didn't really want to mess about with the antivirus settings.

Corona Extra

I would like a bit of clarification on what they mean by a "one off payment" and "Free one year subscription upgrade". The two seem to contradict one another or am I just thick :? So one off every year then

Must be the same marketing strategy as PowerDVD and WinDVD.

I will wait for the official statement

You are right

Anyway another possibility is to momentainly disable the "Adware / Spyware / Riskware" method in AMON settings..
I don't suggest you to disable those settings, I only wanted to provide a possible (even if unwanted) solution to the problem..

So would I :)
It could be interpreted as: In the first year of purchase, the upgrades are free, after that you'll get a discount on buying a new version.
But never mind that, the subscription upgrade doesn't apply to us, when we bought the pro version there was no such thing as a subscription upgrade.

aswanik1 9th June 2006 12:11 PM

well it appears that the BSpalyer guys are just rushing up. No proper strategy. Very naive... in doing business. Just irritating the customers.

Good player but bad execution in terms of business.

Tricky2005 9th June 2006 08:13 PM

Must be a lot of debating going on, 24 hours and still not an official reply.

Well, we'll just have to keep bumping this topic till we get a reply.

So, did you get a reply yet? Or did the development team choose to ignore their paying customers? Anyway, when you wrote your PM to one of the team members I already sent an email to support@bsplayer.org regarding this issue. Still no reply after 4 days :(

Tizio 11th June 2006 12:01 PM

No, I didn't received a reply, otherwise I had posted it here :(
If before next Sunday I'll not receive a reply, I'll write them again.

I'm sorry you (you and other v1 Pro users) are in this situation. I hope you will have a reply as soon as possible..

Mat2000 12th June 2006 02:10 PM

We will offer every registered user of BSplayer 1.x to upgrade for 19,99€ per licence. We are working on that. Please wait few more days.

Take care.

Thanks for the info. So much for the "One time payment" :(

goodbye bsplayer, I've used it for about 4 years now and registered the pro version when it was initialy released. I've been a very happy user until 2.0. Going to look for another player (either freeware, or one where you don't have to pay each year).

Good luck with the future of bsplayer and take care...

I think that you just doubled the number of sad users with this decision.

aswanik1 12th June 2006 03:57 PM

Switching to zoomplayer.

roberthr 12th June 2006 04:59 PM

I think it's not fair! Full version is 29.90 and "upgrade" will be 19.90 according to one time payment as stated. The term "One-time" got whole new meaning by Webteh.

You CAN NOT charge for upgrade if you don't offer patches for older versions which seems to be completely gone so Webteh is forcing users to upgrade instead.

Some users prefer to use older version rather than jump to untested new one. Where is 1.X latest build available? If I payed for 1.X (since you decided version 2 is different product), then I expect 1.X to be available for download in case of disk or other failure.

Somehow it doesn't seem right, don't you think?

Mat2000 12th June 2006 05:07 PM

A lot of thinks in life is not fair.

Let me tell what is not fair :
- we are paying a lot of money for servers
- we are paying a lot of money for bandwith
- we are paying a lot of money for development

That's not fair.
Maybe you would like to see us stop developing BSplayer ?

Tizio 12th June 2006 05:15 PM

It's absolutely better to maintain these prices if the alternative is to stop BSplayer development, but in my opinion they are too high, especially for last year v1 Pro users (for the others it should be anyway a good alternative), but (IMHO) at least y2006 v1 Pro users should have a free v2 upgrade..

But it's also true that BSplayer team members have spent many time and money in this project, so they must have an income for this great work.

I think that users and developers should meet eachother in a compromise.

You can find almost all BSplayer version here

I know they put a lot of time and effort in bsplayer. But they should not have started selling their product by advertising a "One time payment", and then later change that. I know I haven't bought myself a "subscription" (or even only a license for v1.x) to bsplayer but a license for bsplayer pro.

aswanik1 12th June 2006 05:58 PM

hmm...

talking about fairness to grab money? huh

:)

business welldone

I also bought BSplayer Pro primarily because it was a one time payment, I didn't buy it to avoid the adware/spyware because it wasn't in it at the time.
I actually didn't want the pro features at the time but purchased it more as an appreciation for the work the developers were putting into a player that I believed was the best video player on the internet.
I have actually stopped using BSplayer due to some of the latest bugs and unfortunately can't go back to the last working version.
I am a bit dissapointed that Pro users are being expected to pay again.

Mat2000, maybe you could actually explain to us what a "One time" payment actually means, because I think many people around here believed it to be something completely different to your interpretation?

adicoto 12th June 2006 06:12 PM

Tizio, your link is to dvd.box.sk and not to BSPlayer's site, where all paying customers should find the posibility to download at least 2-3 old version. People don't get support from dvd.box.sk

Tizio 12th June 2006 06:27 PM

I know, but since this is the only possibility.. I posted that link..
I have all the BSplayer versions except for these (don't know if they were released, I was not yet a BSplayer user before 2000):
0.1 0.2 0.3 0.4 0.41 0.5 0.51 0.52 0.6 0.61 0.62 0.63 0.7
So I don't have problems, but many old users do have...

But I don't think BSplayer team members will provide v1.x versions since it will be controproducent for the WhenU thing.. Maybe they'll can provide v1.4x links, but I don't think that there's someone out there interested in one of those 2 versions.. :?

adicoto 12th June 2006 06:32 PM

Maybe they must be aware of that problem, the support they must provide for the customers, at least for the paying ones.
Me, as a non-paying customer, I can't ask for that.

Tizio 12th June 2006 06:33 PM

Oops, I forgot v1 Pro userss... You are absolutely right!
They should still provide v1 Pro download links to the ones that bought v1!!

ant 12th June 2006 06:38 PM

I am not in this situation but I'm just curious.. What about people who bought v1 pro one month ago ? This is insane !
best

Tizio 12th June 2006 06:46 PM

I wrote several PMs to the authors, so they know the seituation (now also regarding missing v1 Pro download links), so they have to plan their new policy by taking all these information into account..

I made them notice also the fact that there are customers that bought BSplayer Pro v1 just few weeks before v2 had been released, so they WILL NOT AND MUST NOT pay for a v2 upgrade (and in my opinion also AT LEAST one year old Pro users should be able to upgrade to v2 without additional costs..)

But unforunally this software is not mine, but their.
So the last decision it to them.

I hope they'll do the right thing, and in the same time not stop BSplayer development..

That wouldn't be fair to the older registered users who bought their pro license under the same conditions as those who bought it a month ago, now would it?

ant 12th June 2006 07:01 PM

I also remember that a few days ago, somebody wanted to "pre-order" v2.0

Somebody else adviced him (I don't remember who, but he's not the one to blame, that's for sure) to order v1 and upgrade to v2 when it's released.
If he did, he must be pissed off!

I don't think so, he is not the only one who bought BSplayer v2 and I don't see the necessity to raize a possible accuse against him to be the one who leaked the BSplayer Pro v2 http://forum.tgmonline.it/forum/imag...ns/nonsifa.gif

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply anything by that...
