Default First time I had a performance problem

BSplayer version 2.10, Build 939,10,Jul 2006

I recently ripped a few dvds using DVDFab Decrypter.
.Vob extensions.

I tried playing it in BSplayer (this new version I got tonight and my old one), and it was partly choppy. It was like frames were missing. I thought I had made a bad rip my of dvds but when using the basic Windows Media player, it played smoothly.

I'm on my 6th Dvd now and I'm getting the same results. Fine with Windows Media player 10, but choppy with BSplayer.

Bad codecs? I wouldn't think so.
I don't know video settings all that well. Is there anything under preferences that comes close to fixing this type of problem? I see a number of options for rendering. Would this be it?

You can try to change the rendering mode as you saw in the preferences window, but I think the problem lays in the codec used by BSplayer..

Have you installed Nero Burning ROM? If yes, probably BSplayer is using the Nero filters to decode your MPEG2 movies..

When you play a VOB file in BSplayer, right click on BSplayer window and choose Options -> Filters -> Advanced Now you'll be able to see which codecs are used by BSplayer.

Nero decoder is really slow and thus the video will be choppy. I suggest you to use an alternative MPEG2 decoder (in adicoto's list of codecs you'll find 3 of them, one freeware), Elecard works great for me

I don't have Nero.

In advanced, I see:
- Default Direct Sound Device
- EQ
- MPV decoder filter
- AC3 filter
- MPEG-2 Demultiplexer mpg2splt.ax
- Source

Something related to either MPV,AC3 or MPEG-2?

I recommend you install these 2 filters in place of "MPV decoder filter" and "mpg2splt.ax".
Code:
http://rapidshare.de/files/25642909/mpeg2dec.rar.html
First you need to unregister the old filters. To find out the filename for that MPV video decoder, right-click BSPlayer, choose Options -> Filters -> Advanced.
Code:
regsvr32 /u mpg2splt.ax
To register the new ones use the following command
Code:
regsvr32.exe <filter_name>
where <filter_name> is the full path to where you unpacked my files, say c:\plugins\mpeg2dec\mpgdec.ax

The problem with M$ mpg2splt.ax is that it fails to estimate (even approximate) time on most VBR (or incorrectly authored) VOBs and skips certain frames at MPEG-2 cell boundaries. Haven't heard of MPV decoder... These 2 filters I posted work fine for me.
