I Just Dont Understand......

Hey guys hope soemone can help me because i am at a dead loss with this. I have installed bs player 1.36 on my friends laptop and also the ffd show codec 20060821-rev2546 he can run mpeg files great with this and no problems at all.
I have just done a format on my pc and have installed all the necessary drivers etc. onto windows and i have installed bs player 1.36 and ffd show 20060821-rev2546 on my desktop pc i have ticked ALL the same boxes as him and both installs of bs player and ffd show are IDENTICAL and everytime i try to launch the same files as him i get this error:

WTF is going on how can he run EXACTLY the same files as me yet i cannot run them? I am basically at my wits end with this i just dont get it i have spent hours trying to sort it out and still nothing, how can it run fine on his and not mine? Really hope someone can help before i go mad!
