Default Subtitle problems with mkv files?

Well I searched the forum a little, it seems like bsplayer just doesn't work with haali splitter, but gabest filter works. That's cool, so I went to http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...FilterPack.htm to dl this filter pack, and install it. Then it became worse! There still aren't any subtitles but there are even less options for the subtitles. So do I have to uninstall Haali before installing the filter pack? I have CCCP codec installed as of now... And I duno how do uninstall just Haali without uninstalling CCCP.

Uninstall that pack. It contains lots of unneeded things.

Get the K-Lite Codec Pack. That allows you to install the Gabest filters instead of Haali (which is the default in the pack).

Doesn't CCCP provide a component selection dialog during install?

If it does, then uninstall CCCP and reinstall it without Haali. If it does not, then uninstall CCCP and select only those components from K-Lite pack that are present in CCCP or whose function you understand. Last time I checked most video decoding in CCCP was done by ffdshow.

The best way is to determine the format of your file, video and audio streams, and manually choose a decoder for each one though.
