Just curious if it has spyware

If your firewall is complaining about bsplayer trying to connect to the internet it's due to the player connecting to WinLIRC (remote control hardware) via IP address. If you don't own such a remote control you merely have to disable it under general tab ("dont' use WinLIRC").
