Overlay mixer rendering mode?
 

Hello guys,
By default Bsplayer runs at "internal renderer overlay" but if i change rendering mode to "overlay mixer" some of my videos cannot be opened with errors or some of them may go out of sync.

But if i use internal renderer mode, the problems do not seem.

What is "overlay mixer" and who can use it? What's the purpose?

My CPU is fast enough and my VGA card compatible with my videos (tested)?

(I know it's a link to a site of another video player, but it's only to explain the different rendering modes.. I'll delete it if it's a problem) :roll:

If i play a VOB extension DVD video file just by double clicking, i get "can't open". And i had a lot of paging errors on that DVD-ROM shown in "event log". But the drive reads well other video files like avi,mpeg.

Also Windows Media Player reads that DVD-ROM (VOB) file hardly generating paging errors in event log.

1-.....What do you think?

2-Also what do i have to have toplay subtitles of DVD-Video in order to select them with Bsplayer? Does Bsplayer have internal subtitle filter for DVD-VIDEOS? I know it works for Divx subtitles (srt,sub) but DVD-video???

3-Also when using overlay mixer mode rather than internal renderer, movie info statistics has much more "-average std offset" and "std offset" values... Is they serious?

1. As stated in BSplayer Pro homepage: DVD support (codecs required) so you have to install an MPEG2 codec, such as Elecard, Cyberlink or others (some of them are included in codec packs, K-Lite Mega Codec Packfor example ;) , but pay attention to what you install if you intend to use CPs, usually they introduce more conflicts problems than solutions)
2. BSplayer is able to decode and disply DVD subtitles axactly as the DivX ones, plus since few releases BSplayer is also able to let you select external subtitles while playing a DVD if you want
3. different rendering modes have different behaviours on different machines (video cards, CPUs etc.).. Anyway the default renderer is the best one in my opinion in stability, quality and resource consumption :wink:

First off, thanks for responding and taking care. I have necessary MPEG2 codecs (Mainconcept) and i'm able to play MPEG2 files with Bsplayer but i can't play DVD's with "menus" only VOB video is shown in Bsplayer.

But with Windows Media Player, i can play DVD's with menu functions FINE with the same filters.

However my Bsplayer Pro is a bit old due not to feel needing to upgrade. Mine is Bsplayer PRO 1.41 build 832. Could it be the problem for subtitle and DVD video menu problem?

Also i couldn't understand how to play DVD movies with just one click? There's only a "open video fil"e allowing me to single file?

If I remember correctly Full DVD Playback feature has been implemented since v2, not before... sorry..

Hmm, v2.0 and later? Are you sure? WMP9 plays menus and subtitles it's old too. :?

Also Bsplayer PRO loads DVD discs very hardly. Without ejecting disc from the same drive, WMP reads quicker and more stable?...

BSplayer v1.xx can open unprotected VOB files with MPEG2 decoders

Dear Tizio, how can i know my VOB couldn't be opened by Bsplayer because of Protection? Because i want to know if there are something different of unopening like physical read-errors or disc scratch?

Look at the disk. If it's genuine, then it's protected.

Yes, the disk is original and it has factory-printed cover on it. So always that mean it's protected? And is that protected related to region protection? It mustn't be, because my drive can open region 2 drives with no problems?

Yes, it is the same copy protection. In fact it could be called "reading protection", as this is what they're restricting you to do. The goal of commercial companies is to make it as hard as possible for you to access their released discs.

But as far as my drive is region-2 compatible, why can't i play some of them with Windows Media Player old old Bsplayer (older than v2.0) ? Sometimes i get opening error sometimes it's read hardly although the disc and drive is clean and other Disc can be read fine.

What's the logic?

I want to ask to understand better :)

Isn't there 2 protection types:

1-Region protection which disallows you to play the DVD video outside your region? (country)

2-Copy protection which disallows you to backup your movie?

Which protection type does effect Bsplayer not to open original DVDs before v2.0?

I haven't dealt with original DVDs much. But I suppose it is not possible to simply read them, since there exists paid software ("AnyDVD") which enables DVD reading.

Yes, this is true. Copy protection, also called CSS it's the one that does not allow you to read (and backup) the content of a DVD.
