For fully supported playback, probably royalty will have to be payed.

At this moment BSPlayer does not fully support HD playback from original media. To do that, BSPlayer's team must pay royaltyes to implement such a function into the player.
Buit if you followed the link provided you know that you can play it.

There is no difference between the 2 formats. They use the same compresions methods. Disc structure it's different.

HD-DVD and BluRay discs are deliberately made unplayable. You need to extract their contents and create normal unprotected files on your computer. Open Source decoders for the new formats VC-1, hi resolution AC-3 and DTS are in developement. You will be able to acquire those decoders for free.

yes, it is capable.

In the past i ripped a blu ray disc to the HDD and because a powerDVD was installed, the BSplayer used its codecs and played correctly the BLu-ray files.

Will be very interesting to have only the powerdvd codecs without to have to install it... maybe someone can help us on that.

I am trying to play a National Geographic Blu-Ray disc and BSplayer Pro tells me that it cannot find the codecs required to reproduce it. I am using the latest version (2.40.997). What codecs should I install?
