Default Hiding subtitles on AVI files?

Hi all, new here. I was hoping that someone here could suggest a good program that sort of covers up, or hides subtitles. I tried virtualdub, but it won't import the AVI file format for some reason. It keeps throwing an error message every time I try to import my file for editing. I know there are some plugins for VirtualDub, but none of those seemed to work either.

I know there are other programs out there, but which one should I use? I know you can't get rid of subtitles without converting, and I really don't want to lose any video quality. But you can hide them. Here is a short video I found on the subject, and its the one that made me want to try virtualdub.

Nobody? Nobody even knows of a good paid program that you can buy to do this with all types of files?

Usually only AVI files have hardcoded subtitles. All other media have embedded subtitles which can be deactivated when playing in BSPlayer.

Yeah but can't you just change the container like with Tsmuxor? Also if you look at that youtube vid I posted, you can see that there are programs out there that just sort of shade over the subtitles, making them look much better. Nobody here is doing that?
