I suppose that's in Windowed mode as double (left) mouse click is interpreted as (one of the two) default keys for volume down. (Have a look under "Options"/"Preferences"/"Key definitions and WinLIRC")
In Windowed mode default keys for volume up/down are the up/down arrow keys. In full screen mode mousewheel up/down are the default "keys".
