Could be you don't have the codec as used for that particular movie installed or that the file is corrupted.
Can you play the movie in question in WMP or in VLC?
Assuming that it is an .avi, please check which codec is used by that movie with e.g. GSpot (see 2nd item of my Help-to-Help post as linked to at the bottom of this post).
If it's not an .avi but an mpg/mpeg, you probably need an appropriate mpeg-codec. Have a look at
