The I865 MB can't have on it a CPU slower than P4@1.5 GHz, so there is not the problem about sound decoding. And by the way, CMI8738 is the same thing as AC97, it uses the CPU for decoding.

Sorry to disapoint you but I am affraid that your windows install is the one that causes the problems. Last chance is to uninstall the codec pack, run the patch for quartz.dll sugested by bst and then reinstall of independent codecs,
OR FFDshow, not both.
