What exactly do you mean by cropping? If by cropping you mean just keeping the watchable portion of the movie, then don't use full screen and just resize the movie window to fit the original size of the watchable portion, this way it eliminates the letterbox view. Don't try and resize the video window too much, or you will naturally lose image quality.
