Can you adjust colours (with movie loaded) rightclick > Video > Color controls? (Or on base-skin click Video and then colorcontrols icon.)

"newest Koepi" = like the stable or unstable binary? Check if BSPlayer is indeed using XviD codec for playback (rightclick > Options > Filters > Advanced)
