A very true saying indeed.
Overhere usually X-mas trees are kept until Epiphany and removed immediately thereafter.
In our part of the country we still have an old tradition (which is disappearing rapidly though) that children still come and sing at our front doors about the three kings and are rewarded with candy, money or other more healthy treats. Seems a bit like haloween, but there is another tradition in the northern part of our country, which comes more close, i.e. "Saint Martin's day" (
this one).
