Default Theater Mode
FYI, in ATI Clone/Theater Mode, it's impossible to 'Pan&Scan' the movie with any media player I tested. (Theater Mode 'catches' the movie direct from the DirectShow Filters and not from the media player. well not exactly but something like this)
Try another mode (TV-out as primary display) ... or find a DS Filter that resizes the movie and tell us
